During the month of June 2020 we had a 46 patients who didn't attend their appointments. This is a total of 11 hours clinical time lost? If for any reason you are unable to attend an appointment please can you call the reception team so that it can be offered to someone else.

Appointments System

For an urgent/emergency appointment please call the surgery at 8.00am Monday to Friday please call at the surgery or telephone the surgery. Do not go to work or school. Urgent problems will be seen as soon as possible.

Triage – We operate a triage system and offer pre bookable appointments.  

For an appointment please telephone the surgery during working hours, ask the receptionist for a telephone consultation or face to face appointment if you feel your problem can't be dealt with over the telephone.  At busy times of the week, you may have to wait longer than usual. If you have an urgent problem our receptionists will take your telephone number and ask the doctor to call you back for a telephone consultation or offer availability for a face to face appointment. 

Please advise the receptionist if you have special instructions as to when the doctor would be able to call you back.  If you contact the surgery before 11.00am the doctor will called you back before 11.30am for more urgent matters.  If you call after 11.00am the doctor will ring you back before 5.00pm.  The doctors will call back twice at least 30 minutes apart, they will leave a message if possible for you to contact the surgery if you still need advice and they have not been able to contact you.

We do have pre-bookable appointments with all doctors; please use these only if a telephone call would not suffice.

Seeing the Practice Nurse

The practice nurses help by offering cervical and health screening, can arrange blood tests, offer health advice, baby and travel vaccinations and other treatment room activities. Women can also consult the nurse about the menopause and the prevention of osteoporosis. We also have specialist nurses trained in asthma, cardiovascular problems (heart disease, stroke), chronic respiratory disease and diabetes.

You can usually speak to one of the doctors or nurses if you ring within surgery hours Monday to Friday.

Waiting Time

If you have an appointment, the doctors or nurses will try to see you as close to your appointment time as possible. Please remember delays can happen (e.g. because of other emergencies. If you have to wait longer, we will tell you the reason for this).

Booking Appointments Online

You can now book routine doctors appointments on line.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer appointments with nurses to book on line at the moment as the length of time needed varies for each appointment. We may be able to offer this service in the future.

Cancellations & Reminders

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.


On arrival at the surgery you can book in for your appointment using our Self Check-In system, there is a screen in both waiting areas.

Please do not turn up after 10.30am or 5.30pm unless you have an appointment or it is an emergency.  Arrive promptly or cancel your appointment if you cannot keep it. If your doctor is away for any reason, you will be able to see one of the other doctors or someone acting on his/her behalf. Please try to make an appointment for one main problem. If you have more than one thing to discuss please ask for a longer appointment or be prepared for the doctor or nurse to ask you to come in again in order to cover the rest of your problems.


If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

Home Visits

Patients can be visited in their own home if they are too ill to come to the surgery. Please telephone before 10.00 am if possible, and be prepared to answer a few questions about the problem to help the doctor to assess the urgency of the visit.

Visits are carried out after morning surgery between 12.00 noon and 4.00 pm except in unforeseen circumstance. Explain the problem clearly to the receptionist.
