News from Abbey Medical Group
Abbey Medical Group Patient Triage System
As you may be aware, GPs across the country are facing unprecedented pressures, with increasing demand and reduced resources. To improve efficiency, Abbey Medical Group has been developing a new triage system aimed to improve patients experience, and ensure people get the best care in a timely way. Patients have the option of booking appointments online or by telephone and at the Doctors request answering some brief questions to enable GPs to triage appointments.
Initial teething problems have been ironed out and GPs and practice staff are reporting much more efficient and streamlined triaging of appointments and reduced waiting times on the telephone appointment system.
We wish to thank people for their patience and co-operation during the implementation period and hope we continue to improve and develop this service.
GP Training Practice
Feedback from some patients has shown surprise in learning that Abbey Medical Group is a GP training practice. GP Training practices are approved places where post graduate doctors complete their training to become independent GPs. This is done on a rotational basis and the GP registrars can change over up to 3 times per year. GP trainee registrars are supervised by a GP trainer (there are 4 partners at AMG that do this), and they provide educational supervision which ensures that GP registrars receive the necessary instruction and support. All patient contacts made by GP trainees are reviewed by a GP trainer or Partner. Abbey Medical Group has been a training practice for over 20 years and will continue to contribute to this important aspect of medical training.
